JOB TITLE: Purchasing Manager
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain Management

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS:

A solid understanding of overall purchasing concepts and procedures, applicable to the manufacturing industry is required. An ability to work with minimum supervision is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITES:

Duties and responsibilities may be added or deleted based on our business and operational needs.

1. Supervise day to day operation of the department, keeping direct supervisor updated on activities on an ongoing basis.

2. General approval of Buyer/Packaging Specialist negotiations, subject to YAPP USA plans and policies.

3. Negotiate C.A.R.’s as directed.

4. Review supplier contracts as required.

5. Control and day to day management of supplier directory.

6. Source components, materials and products as necessary.

7. Review current supplier pricing on an ongoing basis.

8. Periodic assistance respect to transportation negotiations as it relates to freight costs.

9. Assist with negotiating freight broker’s contracts.

10. Review prepared purchase orders and other administrative documents relative to purchasing from plants as well as Group Purchasing.

11. In conjunction with quality assurance, provide supplier and plant audits.

12. Provide assistance to Group Properties as it relates to price/cost negotiations as directed.

13. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

FINANCIAL AND STAFF RESPONSIBILIIES

Responsibility for department budget. Full responsibility for all Purchasing staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• B.S. Degree or M.S. Degree preferably Purchasing/Materials
• 5-7 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Experience in international logistics
• In depth knowledge of IATF 16949 principles
• Experience, training, or degree in material planning

Candidate must be able and committed to staying up-to-date with business and technological developments, and contribute to continuous improvements. Must be able to travel to different locations and attend to work issues where and when they occur.
